Digipak Poster

As I previously mention the use of a digipak poser develops the music video even further as well as acting as publicity and advertisement for the new album. The use of both the singer’s personas joined together this way shows that everyone has multiple sides to themselves which I think helps lots of people empathise with heavy metal bands and their audience groups. Bands that develop themselves after facing some common trauma or thought and showing that they can be great even with it still affecting them, by sharing this personal side to themselves they also connect to their audiences which boosts their popularity and creates a stronger group following. Examples of bands who have done this are Motionless in White, New Years Day and Black Veil Brides who have all described feelings from depression to losing people through their songs with a message supporting people going through those same stages and telling them it will be ok. This is what I am trying to get visualised through my digipak poster. I want the audience to look at my poster and find some point of relevance to them which would connect them to the artist developing their connection.

In this poster, I have also stuck to using some normal conventions such as artist details, terms and conditions, release dates and where we can find/contact them if you want to know more. These small pieces of information are extremely useful especially nowadays when there are lots of social media interactions with bands. I also want to try and challenge the stereotypical poster by adding a QR code to it, this would give people a chance to directly go to either the music video or the album site just by scanning the photo making it easier for new people to listen to the band.

I have also tried to relate the poster back to sections of both the digipak and music video which is also mentioned on the front of the poster. I feel like this draws all the pieces together to create a more professional product. That is because lots of bands like to relate their posters with something recognisable which might have been seen by the audience. An example of this would be the rise to remain album poster which cleverly includes a picture of their upcoming debut album so that people will be able to recognise it when its released. Using the artists picture on a digipak poster also helps the audience to recognise who they are talking about, this also works with sections or shots from music videos which were released prior to the album or perhaps teaser sections of songs.
